Spider Sam Spade is a minor recurring character in We Baby Bears, who first appeared in "Bug City Sleuths". He is a spider from Bug City who works as a private detective. The Baby Bears are often afraid of Sam Spider Spade due to his spider-like appearance and his personality that can come across as intimidating. In many episodes, Sam's design, with his big eyes and serious detective demeanor, contrasts with the bears' more innocent and friendly nature. This fear becomes a source of humor in the series, as the bears are often put in comical situations where their fear leads to misunderstandings. However, throughout the series, Sam proves to be a friendly and helpful character, which helps soften his scary image as the characters get to know each other better.

Sam is a bluish-purple anthropomorphic spider with four eyes, a dark pink, upside-down heart-shaped nose with two dark green triangular tips on either end, and straight, purplish-navy-blue hair with a pale purple streak. He wears a dark greenish-brown trench coat over a dark cream shirt. He also has a pointy tooth protruding from his upper lip.

Ice Bear[]

Ice bear and Sam are very close friends and partners. In Bug City Frame Up He and Ice bear worked together to uncover the mysterious imposters of Ice and his bros. They found out that it was a caterpillar impersonating everyone to get free stuff and get off Scott free and left the victims to pay the price. Throughout all this Ice help Sam to gain confidence to stop the imposter. He even admitted that he believes in Sam, and he is his hero. At the end of the episode Sam gave his hat to Ice as a souvenir and told him that he inspired him to have more confidence. Before leaving Ice gave Sam a big warm hug and Sam hugged him back. So overall Sam and Ice shared a very close unbreakable bond.

- Sam is a parody of fictional detective Sam Spade from the 1930 novel, The Maltese Falcon, as well as its 1931 and 1941 film adaptations.
- Sam's voice is very similar to Superintendent Chalmers from The Simpsons.
